In Judgment T-375 of 2006, the Constitutional Court stated that, both in the 1991 Constitution of Colombia and in international treaties, there is a clear mandate to promote access to education for members of black communities, both for the preservation of their cultural identity and in the sense of allowing them to pursue basic education and access higher education levels.
