This document provides a comprehensive analysis of educational spending within the national and international context. It begins by providing relevant context and then presents the results obtained. Among them, the document highlights the education expenditure in the 2022 national budget, as well as an international comparison that reveals that Colombia invests less in education as a percentage of GDP compared to other countries in the region and the average of OECD countries. Finally, in its conclusions, the document emphasizes that, despite being the primary sector in terms of spending, the share of education in the national budget has decreased since 2019. It also highlights the need to address structural issues related to access and coverage of higher education, despite the increase in the investment allocation for quality and promotion at this educational level.
